Mhn, I updated it when it came out. Although I don't really like it, to be honest.. The new monsters and items are alright, but the worlds are terribad.
When you create a new world there are 4 different surroundings: sea, mountains, forests and plain fields. And there are caves/dungeons everywhere. Just mine a few blocks down exactly where you stand, dammit. Now try to build anything.

Sea: It's obvious, right? You can't build on water. Not in the water nor on it. If you're going to, enjoy spending time on placing blocks below the surface.

Mountains: This one's obvious as well.. Mountains are too small if you're going to build anything else besides a house where you can sleep and fap inside. And it's a pain in the ass to build anything at all, since you have to remove blocks to make the ground flat.

Forests: Do I have to explain? Trees, trees, trees and more trees. Took me hours before I found ONE open space where I could fit a decent house, 6x6..

Fields: Best option to build anything on, in my opinion, but it still makes you rage. Not only is the surface grumpy, but there's grass everywhere - which you have to clear before building. And if you find a big area (at least more than 15x15 blocks), dig down 2 or 3 blocks and you're most likely to find a cave or dungeon somewhere within the radius.

BUT, away with the negative stuff, this is only like a half update. As you can see there are a few stuff which are incomplete.. This was in the beginning meant to be a full update, but they didn't want people to wait for it, so they released the unfinished update beforehand.
Yes, I play Minecraft and am currently building a castle.
