(This topic may not interest the majorty, but it does me. If you don't like it from the name then just don't read it)
I was walking up to my guitar class thinking what I should blog. I sat down on the desk and got my usual stuff to sleep on ready: my jacket for a pillow, chair to put my feet up. Just as I was about to drift off to sleep to kids (my age: 15) sat next to me and started to talk. I woke up. Not by the fact that they were talking, but what they were talking about. One of them took out a cigarette pack and asked if it was wise to put a lighter in with it. What got my attention wasn't the fact that he had brought a cigarette pack to school, it was that he actually used it. After that they talked about where they smoked, how they smoked, what they smoked, when they smoked, how many times a day they smoked and stuff like that.
As if smoking wasn't enough, they started to talk about drinking. And apparently the guy didn't drink just a little bit every now and then, he drank (from what I heard) a shit load. He was just talking about how he got stoned the other week with some of his mates. And then they went on talking about how they got stoned, what they drank, how much they drank etc. And at one point they were actually talking about drugs... But I can't recall there conversation.
(I have never seen a girl (at school) smoke or admit that she smoked until today) What surprised me even more was that the girls behind them asked what they smoked! My jaw dropped and I started laugh so hard I almost went out. I mean, really? And then the same thing happened with the girls as well. What the smoked etc etc.
The thing I don't understand is why? Why on earth do people smoke? I mean it's not good for you, at all. I mean what so ever. It contains over 40 different chemical shit in it. There's one good thing (for reasonably fat people) it fucks up your digestion in such a way that it doesn't work properly and you don't gain as much weight from eating a mega mac as you did before. I think the case is with young people that when you smoke/drink/do drugs you're accepted as an ADULT. Because when we were small in every cartoon there would be an adult, and that adult would smoke no matter what the age. Fucking stupid people...
(Oh and just a side note: this blog took me 40 minutes to write because it got erased 3 times.)
Oh man you wouldn't want to smoke near me. I'd kick your ass and slap your face. I'm one of those people who goes to the limit with these kind of stuff. Hate is a bad word, but I HATE people who smoke/drink or do drugs when they're approximately around my age. The answers I've gotten from those who do was "because it's cool", "not your business idiot" or like Markes said "because I just simply do". It makes me wonder, how come someone like me gets called 'cool', 'cute' or 'sweet' much more than they do? I think it's disgusting and it makes me want to puke everytime I see someone smoke on the street. To top that off, my dad smokes aswell.. I've been telling him to stop smoking or atleast get out on the balcony if he does. The reaction lasted for 2-3 days, after that he started smoking inside again.
Like Markes also said, he smoked a few times and could easily stop. He stopped by sheer will and because of no interest of it I guess. The same goes for me, I tried a cigarette once when I was a kid and I said never again..
Jeez, I've commented on like almost every of Kaans blogposts but I haven't made a single one myself. I'm free from school starting today (Thursday) until Tuesday, so I'll try to pack up something during the weekend.
Once again, this has been a successfull blogpost. Keep it up Dave!
This was a very good blog !:D I like this, becouse i allways have somethink to read now and that is just awesome !:D And same as Mark, I tried, stoped and still smoke a few times in the week but i dont do i becouse i want to fit in i do it becouse it taste good, sometimes atleast.... And yes a really good post here Dave
I wondered the same when I was about your age. It's funny when you ask them 'Why are you smoking?', they tell you something like 'It calms me down.' or 'I just do.'. After a while, I figured that most kids start smoking so they could 'fit in'. I, personally, tried cigarettes many times. Which also leads me to tell you how funny it is when you tell them 'You should stop smoking.', the response is usually 'I can't, I tried so many times!'. I'm talking from my personal experience here, as I said, I tried cigarettes many times and I could stop any time I wanted, there is no addiction to it.
Interesting subject Kaan. Keep it up, I'm starting to like the blog more than the forum.
